The Post of Yesterday

Well the internet was down so I wrote this yesterday, May 2nd, and am now posting it.  Tomorrow will be a double post because I don't have time to write about today seeing as I have a paper due tomorrow that I have yet to start. Waaaaaaaa :( Enjoy!

I cannot believe I have only been here for 6 days! It seems like forever.  I guess I just fit right in.  Today was another wonderful day in London but who is surprised? I woke up (later than I had planned) and got ready for class (wishing I had a hair dryer) then headed off to class. We had a great class period discussing All’s Well that Ends Well, a very thought provoking play, as well as the gospel and the theatre.  I was amazed at all the different interpretations of the play discussed.  It really opened my mind up to a lot of new possibilities as to what this play could be saying.

After class we departed on our adventure to the magnificent land of Primark.  I would describe it as Forever 21 style clothes but cheaper and the store is bigger.  It was wonderful! Unfortunately it is a bank holiday here in London so it was CRAZY! Now, you might think oh, I have done crazy shopping before, no big but my friends, you have no idea.  It was the most insane thing I have ever experienced.  I cannot adequately describe to you how busy this store was.  You had to shove and push your way through crowds everywhere you went. It was insane.  Unfortunately I didn’t get anything absolutely fabulous.  The jacket I wanted didn’t fit, they didn’t have any silver dangly earrings, they didn’t have my size in the shoes I wanted, and the hat I liked didn’t come in the right color.  Maybe it was a sign that I didn’t need to spend money! However as I was leaving I saw this wonderful skirt that I might go back and get.

After that adventure we headed towards the Westminster tube stop to check out the abbey and parliament.  Wow, beautiful, that is the main word that comes to mind.  Here is a picture of me on the bridge over the Thames, facing parliament! That is right, the Thames, I hope everyone else is as excited about that as I am.

Me on the other side of Parliament…(Peace signs are for you Olivia)

And then me in front of the abbey with my dear friend and roommate Katie (or Georgina when it gets confusing with the other Katie)…

After we felt satisfied with that trip we headed to the grocery store…again.  I don’t know what it is about London but the food comes in the tiniest portion size plus you have to carry everything at least 4 blocks home but everyone goes to the grocery store like once a week.  It is already driving me crazy but I guess I need to get used to it and, I was out of milk which is such a necessity.

We then came home ate some grub and Katie 1 (not Georgina) and I headed to see a show called, Clybourne Park, described as a dark comedy, with our friend Patrick in a theatre near China Town.  It was such a great show.  I mainly understood that it was a commentary on racism in a comedic way.  It was set in America and the actors did an amazing job with the accents.  The play was written extremely well and the comedic timing was right on.  The acting was great too.  It really left me thinking which is what I like about a show.  The main female character in the first act was in Harry Potter, ooooo.  J

Anyway definitely an enjoyable day filled with the wonders of this town. Tomorrow we are going to the British Library and I am going to see the desk Jane Austen wrote her books on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I. AM. SO. EXCITED.  Then to the portrait gallery, then a lecture on All’s Well and the performance of All’s Well in the Globe Theatre.  If you don’t know what is special about the globe, look it up! Time to get some rest, crazy day tomorrow and then loads of homework.
