It All Started with Hyde Park

So a little back tracking is in order since I am a day behind.  I would like to start with a description of my day on April 3, 2011 starting with a jog in Hyde Park.  I have never and probably will never again have such a wonderful jog.  Running in Hyde Park made running beautiful.  The weather was perfect.  A little bit crisp to keep you from over heating but warm enough that you weren't cold. We didn't go very far, which made me feel like a wimp but it was throughly enjoyable. As I was running through this beautiful park I got to behold the peter pan statue, this beautiful statue to our right (called the Albert Memorial), ponds, and fountains. We plan on going again tomorrow so hopefully I will get to see more. Ah, great way to start the day.

Then comes the exciting adventure of the British Library treasures room! And that treasures word is no joke! I LOVED this place.  I got to see Shakespeare's first folio, original copies of Mozart, Beethoven's pitch fork, papyrus with scripture written on it from shortly after Christ's time, as well as two copies of the Magna Carta! How cool?  I can't decide between Jane Austen's notebook and her writing desk and the Beatles artifacts that were on display.  They had napkins with lyrics written on them by John himself! Ah it was so cool.  Just talking about these two things are making my heart beat a little faster.  Wow, it was like glimpsing into the past, watching a young Jane write down her stories in the most perfect handwriting possible on this little desk.  Magical.

After that we went and got INDIAN FOOD! Yuuuuummmmmmyyyyyyyyy! It was in this little whole in the wall that my professor's wife heard about.  The food was super cheap and so yummy.  And spiiiceeey, I was sweating haha her is a picture for your enjoyment.

Then we were off to Trafalgar for some frolicking by the lions....picture shown here...

Right off of Trafalgar square is the National Portrait Gallery which was GREAT however I was so unbelievably exhausted! My brain was tired of looking at things.  We had to go through the Elizabethan portraits and then we bounced.  Luckily I have roommates who enjoy naps too so we took a nap which was much needed.

Then off too THE GLOBE! We first took a little bridge called millennial bridge which i would like to point out is in harry potter, be jealous.   This is me and my Katie squared's and that is the bridge behind us :)

The show was Shakespeare's All's Well that Ends Well and if any of you know the story you will know that it is LAME! It is all about this girl chasing this boy to no end even though he has no feelings for her and is a MAJOR sleaze! Anyway, regardless of the fact that this show is not by any means my favorite the show was quite enjoyable.  First off, it was in the Globe, and for those who are not as educated as you should be, I will educate you.  The Globe is where Shakespeare and four other actors built theatre in London.  It is not the original Globe due to the fact it burnt down in 1613 but it has been replicated and is located only a few hundred yards away from the original location. It is an outdoor theatre which meant it was cold but that is part of the globe experience.  The actors did a great job of interacting with the audience.  The atmosphere was definitely my favorite part. Here is a picture, kinda blurry, hopefully I will get better ones when we go to see other shows.

We didn't have the best seats as you can see, basically directly to the side of the stage with a pole in front of us but do not fear.  My professor tells us that they progressively get better the more shows we see.  After the show it was time to head on home but...Katie 1 and I got on the wrong tube and didn't realize it until we were about 15 min out of our way. Oh well it was bound to happen sometime, I just wish it hadn't happened the day before I had papers due.

Overall a successful day! And so I can catch up I will write a bit about today, which I promise wont take too long seeing as I did VERY little.

We had class in the morning and then I decided to have a productive day getting homework done and taking a nap because I stayed up too late doing homework.  However that productive day turned into me sitting on the computer messing around and making a princess.  It is fun, you should do it! Tonight however we went to get a Cadbury Egg McFlurry at the swankiest McDonald's EVER! Seriously the place was decorated, had low lighting, was super clean, and the employees looked like flight attendants.  It was cool, made me want to eat at McDonald's more.  After that discovery we went to see a show called Children's Hour and wow.  Keira Knightly starred in it which makes it cool but the play itself was amazing. It was probably one of the most depressing and intense show I have ever seen but do good.  Some of the acting wasn't to my preference but the actor that played the child blew my mind.  Her physicality was genius.  The set and transition between scenes was beautiful. I really enjoyed it.

I wish all of you could see these shows with me, they truly are indescribable. I am having a wonderful time filled with a lot of discovery.
