Holy Moly

Oh by, I am so behind in this blogging thing.  WARNING: This is going to be a very very long post so be prepared! I apologize right now but I kind of use this as a journal so I have to put EVERYTHING.

So this week, highlights. Monday I saw the Ballet Manon, which I already wrote about. It was fabulously fabulous. Tuesday...hmmm, oh yes I went to the grocery store and got and INSANE amount of groceries because I hate grocery shopping! The problem with that is you have to carry them home. Oh my word, my shoulders are still sore. But I have lots of food! :)

We then had to run to the Globe because we always leave too late for everything. We got to see Much Ado About Nothing, my new favorite Shakespeare play. It was so funny. The actors played off of the audience which made it twice as funny. The part of Leonato was played by the butler from fresh prince, he did a great job. Beatrice was also played by a famous actress that was in the Kings Speech, which I have not seen but I hear it is good. Anyway I loved it so much and I realized that the story is so much like Pride and Prejudice which made me love it even more. Walking out I couldn't help but smile and wish that I had my own Claudio (his character was adorable!) Here are a few pictures.

After the show we took a trip to PRIMARK so Katie could return some clothes but then I ended up buying stuff. GRRRRRR I have decided no more trips to Primark for me. I did get some beautiful navy blue velvet pumps that could be considered slightly too small but, I don't care because I love them too much. At Primark I had to go to the bathroom REALLY bad and Katie was taking a long time to shop so me and Katie 1 decided to look for a bathroom. We were following signs through the mall that led us to the parking garage. We both stood their feeling very confused for a while and then we saw a security guard walk past. I asked him where the bathroom was and he gave me a funny look and said, "This is the garage, welcome." In a sarcastic tone. Thank you, I am aware but where is the bathroom! He then said oh that is back there but it is closed. So I had to hold it till we got home. not fun!

We went back to the flat and messed around until about 10:30 when I decided I MUST do laundry. Not just in the tub because I still felt like they were dirty when I did that. So Katie 1 and I packed our suitcases up with dirty laundry, put on our "laundry outfits" the clothes we didn't need washed because we never wear them because we don't like them, and walked down the street to do laundry at Metro Gate. We certainly got a few looks.  The laundry room in Metro Gate (the headquarters for the student flats we are staying in and where the boys live) is a hole in the wall. Literally a hole. Katie couldn't stand up strait and if I walked towards the wall where it curved I could kiss the ceiling. Before I leave I will take a picture of it because it is quite epic. While we waited for our laundry Katie read Macbeth aloud to me and when that got old we watched One Tree Hill on Megavideo. Ah good times. We didn't get done till like 1 am.

Wednesday we had class which was so fun. We had some performances of Macbeth done which were hilarious. Katie Jarvis is a great weird sister! Just saying. I also would like to say that my professors are great! I will never have a better relationship with a college professor than I do with Phil and Roger. I actually wouldn't mind going to class if it didn't mean I had to wake up early. :p After class we headed out to Islington to find this dress we once saw in the window for Katie 1's brother's wedding it was quite the hunt because we didn't know exactly what store it was in but we found it and it looked GREAT on her. Too bad it was so expensive. If you ever want to look at some adorable clothes you will never be able to afford check out Hobbs. I was drooling. One day, when I am rich, I will be such a fabulous dresser. We then got some kabob's before heading to the show.

That night we headed to the show One Man Two Guvnors performed at the National. It was a great show filled with slapstick comedy. My dad would have loved it. The best part was when they pulled audience members on stage, the look of utter confusion was priceless.  I couldn't stop smiling. Between each scene and during intermission they had a skiffle band, kind of like "forever plaid" if you know that music. My favorite part was the very attractive Bass player but the band was fun too.

And in true American style we all stood up and danced during intermission. To be honest though, my favorite part of the night was the GIANT turf covered living room set that was outside. Don't worry, we had a photo shoot outside after the show was over.

Then we come to yesterday, Thursday. We had a scheduled event with the group to go to Kew Gardens. I was originally begrudging it because I had to wake up before 8 am, which as most people know I am not okay with generally but, it was SO worth it.  The gardens were beautiful. Unfortunately though, I didn't dress appropriately for the ONE day we have had that has been chilly and rainy.  I still greatly enjoyed myself. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.

The smell of the roses reminded me of my grandfather, and my childhood for that matter. Something about smells can instantly transport me to a different time and place so fast.

Peacock!

It was when it started down pouring that we decided it was time to bounce.

Then we headed off to see dun duh duh drum roll please....Legally Blonde the musical! We got 86 pound tickets for 22 pounds in what the director considers the best seats in the house. It was magnificent. We were in the perfect spot to see the shoes. Haha The show was so fun. I had seen it before on TV but it was so much better live. Afterwards I wanted to dye my hair blonder and throw out all my clothes that are not pink and or sparkly. I also couldn't stop singing the songs, all day. :) So worth the 22 pounds. I really want to play that part. Just throwing that one out there.

And what better to do on a rainy day then see two shows in London? nothing! So off to the Hamstead theatre to see Silence. Wow, you could not get any different between shows.  This was what I would call an experimental show exploring all different types of silences. Silence when words aren't enough, silence when your words wont be heard, silence when you are speaking but not saying the truth, silence when there is too much noise. Oh my word, it was so powerful and I am still thinking about it. I know I say this all the time but words just don't convey how amazing this show was but it doesn't. The sound was so well thought out, I mean, it should be when the show is all about sound, or the absence of it.

Afterwards Katie 1 and I decided to leave by ourselves so we could ponder what we saw without the craziness of everyone else's comments. We were on the tube talking away and we realized we passed our stop. So we get out to go the other way but have to wait. So we start having a really deep conversation about our fears for our life. We get on the next tube and keep talking and realize again we were on the wrong tube. So we get off again, get back on and try one more time, still talking. Then we realize we were heading in the right direction on the wrong line and we bust up laughing. No more talking we decided until we are home. Wow what a hilarious experience. But great bonding.

Now who wants to hear about my first day in Barcelona? Haha probably not you but, here I go.

After our crazy buzy day in Madrid we woke up at 4 am to get to our plane.  On the way out we found puke on the stairs and we passed a group of drunk boys walking in. Haha You gotta love hostels.  The plane ride is...a blur because I was sleeping. We were all a bit cranky when we arrived and getting ourselves to the hostel was tense. Oh well, we made it without fighting. We got there before check in but John, the fair scattered unorganized hostel worker welcomed us with open arms, literally.  He was wearing swimming trunks and a t-shirt which I have learned is the uniform for this hostel.  He told us we could change and leave our stuff here so we could explore the city and come back later to check in.  He gave us a map and did a picasso number on it showing us where we should go and how we should get there. We then changed into our suits and headed out to the beach to take a nap. On the way however we passed this pastry show that was a block down from our hostel and I am not exaggerating when I say that we never passed the store without stopping to get pastries. The old women who ran the store laughed at us the second time we came in. She spoke zero English but in our repeated visits Camille knew enough spanish to say "American's are fat" and "See you tomorrow." Hilarious.

I would like to add that we were avoiding the nude beach but in Spain tops are optional. If I never have to see strangers topless again it will be too soon. I was scared. But never fear I got a nap and a nice burn. Luckily it will turn into tan, it just wasn't comfortable for the next few days. After or sunbathing we went to get some food but the eye candy was much more satisfying. The waiter working in the restaurant was "yummy" and we were all drooling. As he was leaving we "snuck" a picture of him but he totally knew as you can tell.

Then came the trip to the Picasso museum. It was the coolest building hidden on a side street of Barcelona. I loved it. I am not a huge Picasso fan but it was amazing to see some of his work and how he changed throughout the years. The biggest problem with the museum was the large group of French teenagers visiting at the time. Can you say smelly? Teenagers are smelly to begin with, French teenagers REEK. We didn't stay long in the rooms with them. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment to break up this incessant writing.

We decided it was time for a break so back to the hostel we went and met Angel. Ah what a character. He was the hostel worker on shift for the night and we asked him about dance clubs and where he thought we should go. He recommended this club called Jamboree which had one floor for R&B and one for hip hop. He then proceeded to tell us that he could get us in for free. SWEET. He told us to meet him downstairs at 1am. So we decided to take a rest and wake up to get ready. Don't we look great? haha

Yes, that is when people go out and when we got to the dance club there was hardly anyone there.  Anyway he talked to the owner got us in and showed us around. Yay for connections. The club was all kinds of fun! We danced the whole time which I love. At one point a man came up to us and said, "Are you from the states?" We said yes, how did you know. "You are singing all the lyrics to Get Jiggy With It, dead give away" Haha good times.  I would also just like to say that Spanish men number one love blondes, number two are far more touchy, and number three don't always understand what NO means.  We ended up leaving around 4:00 when everyone started getting a little too drunk for our completely sober selves.  I am really glad we went though, but I think I have had my fill of clubbing in Spain. And I am sure you can guess how tired we were after that. Bed time!

And now I will be done, until tomorrow. :)
